Wee Willie Winkie's World by Lyonel Feininger (1550-) - 1st Sunday Comic Appearance August 19, 1906 - Wee Willie Winkie's World was one of two titles created by noted cubist artist Lyonel Feininger. Wee Willie Winkie's World was the loose story of a young schoolboy exploring the countryside to which he has moved. The strip was whimsical and fun, but the real attraction of the strip was the extraordinary artwork of Feininger. Feininger mixed impressionistic images with bold surrealistic panoramas to create a true classic. Feininger would leave the strip after a short six months. He would go on to assignments which allowed him to develop his artistic style much further. He would eventually gain a very high place in art history. Because of the extraordinary quality of the strip, the celebrity of Feininger, and it's very brief run in a single newspaper, Wee Willie Winkie's World pages command an exceptionally high premium. Offered exclusively as Full-Size pages, the rarity of these make them highly sought-after in virtually any condition. | ||||
