| Fineheimer Twins (Der...) by Harold Knerr (0520-) 1st Appearance February 15, 1903 - Die Fineheimer Twins was one of the many Katzenjammer Kids copycat strips of the turn of the 20th Century. The strip showed little originality, in the truest sense a copy...except for one marvelous saving grace. This was the vehicle to introduce Harold Knerr to the newspaper buying public. Harold Knerr, in 1914, would be assigned to take over the Katzenjammer Kids after the Court battle between Hearst and the Katzenjammer creator Rudolf Dirks. Once fully in Knerr's grasp (and after a year or two of working through the old lifeless gags), Knerr would finally develop his own style of drawing the Kids and their hi-jinks. Unfortunately, Die Fineheimer Twins came a bit before that Knerr talent epiphany. Still, these sell very well due the their scarcity, and their historical significance in the history of Comics. Usually half size and not always colorized, these sell out quickly regardless and at a modest premium. | ||||
